Barbara Dare, born Stacy Gayle Mitnick in Wichita Falls, Texas, in 1963, became one of the leading adult-film performers of the late 1980s.
In a 2016 first-person interview with The Rialto Report, her career was described as spanning more than 100 features, early contract work with Essex Video and Vivid, and extensive feature-dance touring after she left film work in the early 1990s.
Dare won AVN Best New Starlet in 1987, Best Actress — Video for Naked Stranger in 1989 and Best All-Girl Sex Scene for True Love in 1990. She was later inducted into both the AVN and XRCO halls of fame.
