Gina Lynn, born Tanya Mercado on February 15, 1974 in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico, grew up in New Jersey after moving to the mainland as a child.

Her professional adult-film career was established by the late 1990s, and archival reporting documents a one-year exclusive performing contract with Pleasure Productions signed in June 2000.

Lynn later directed and produced through Gina Lynn Productions while also taking mainstream roles, including Analyze That and Eminem's Superman music video.

She was inducted into the AVN Hall of Fame in 2010 and appeared as Penthouse Pet of the Month for April 2012.
