Kink was founded by Peter Acworth in 1997 and grew from the original Hogtied site into one of the best-known specialist fetish networks in the adult industry.

The company later became closely associated with San Francisco and the Armory, which served as a major headquarters and production location until regular filming there wound down in 2017.

Cybernet Entertainment LLC publicly identifies Kink.com as its core business and traces the company to Acworth's 1997 launch. That provides a direct company relationship rather than an inferred ownership claim.
